Alzheimers is such a scary disease that unfortunately affects too many people. This weekend I volunteered at the Alzheimers Walk for Memories. The number of participants and the amounts they were able to pledge was truly amazing, their dedication and support will definitely make a difference in the lives of so many people affected by Alzheimers.

Act Eleven: Clothes
I cleaned out my closet and donated the items I no longer wanted to the goodwill clothing bin. My thoughts were, if I haven't worn something in 2 years, I'm not about to wear it now and some one else in need might.

Act Ten: A Better Sleep
Today we received our new mattress and I paid a $10 fee for them to take our old mattress and donate it to some one in need. Hopefully some one else can have a better sleep now too.

Act Nine: Catelli
For every person that clicks "like" on the catelli pasta facebook page, Catelli will donate 1 serving of pasta to a family in need. We clicked "like" today and encourage you to do the same since it costs you nothing at all to help.

Act Eight: Empties
A neighbour was collecting empty beer bottles for a family that was displaced by a fire to their home over the holidays. We dropped off our empties from the holidays to help the cause.

Act Seven: Wish (1 hr)
I've been volunteering with Make A Wish for five years as a wish grantor. Today I had a visit with a very nice family to discuss the child's wish. For their privacy I won't go into many more details than that.
Make a Wish has always been a charity I fully support and thoroughly enjoy every moment and every family I meet. The children have taught me so much, they are all so strong, optimistic and brave and I can only hope that in a similar situation I would be the same way, but as adults we tend to be a lot more pessimistic. It really helps me to put things into perspective, these children are wonderful role models.
This is my first act of volunteering for my year of kindness, so I have 1 hour toward the 50 hours of volunteering I'm hoping to achieve in the next year.
